Greetings

I have been responsible for UTokyo Future Faculty Program, a pre-FD/FD program for graduate students and faculty members at the University of Tokyo, since its inception in 2013.
The program's objective is to enhance the competencies required of university faculty members, particularly their teaching abilities. I consider it crucial that they adopt a mindset of "continuous learning" as educators.

My area of expertise is in faculty development (FD). My original specialisation was in psychostatistics. However, I subsequently changed my field of study when I was a Visiting Scholar at Carnegie Mellon University. Meeting Dr Peter Seldin in 2016 led to the Teaching Portfolio (TP), which is at the heart of this website and became involved in supporting its dissemination as a research topic.

In terms of enhancing the quality of education, it is my contention that educators would be well-advised to become aware of their own philosophy and to conduct their teaching activities in accordance with that philosophy.
Furthermore, I posit that the realisation of one's philosophy not only informs educational activities but also guides the individual's personal development.
